Mother of God parish, in Rochester New York, was established by Russian
Orthodox exiles displaced from their homeland by the Second World War.
Divine services were first held in rented space in 1947. Finally, in 1952,
the building we now use was purchased. At that time, the parish was
formally incorporated as well.
Currently our parish is a combination of emigrants from the former Russian
empire, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as
a growing number of American born converts to Orthodoxy."

- Holy Trinity Seminary. "Holy
Trinity Orthodox Seminary exists to serve the Russian Orthodox Church
Outside Russia by preparing priests and deacons for service in the Church
of Our Lord Jesus Christ. To that end, the Seminary immerses young men in
the centuries-old, life-giving wisdom contained in His Holy Church.
Through daily participation in the Church’s liturgical cycle, interaction
with the life of the monastery, and study of Holy Scripture, Sacred
Tradition, and the writings of the Holy Fathers, seminarians learn to
acquire the mind of the Church.
Those willing to take up their Cross, struggle, and endure – by the
blessings of the Most Holy Trinity – may become beacons radiating the pure
and undiluted Truth of Our Saviour to a world in dire need of the Grace of
God and of salvation through His love.
Under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia,
Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary offers a five-year academic program leading
to the degree of Bachelor of Theology and in the summers it conducts a
certificate program in Liturgical Music. It operates under an Absolute
Charter from the Commissioner for Education and the Board of Regents of
the University of the State of New York..." Comment: Driving
through the countryside southeast of southeast of Utica and suddenly
seeing the large gold onion domes of a Russian church appear above the
trees is an amazing image to behold. If you visit the church, please
remember to dress appropriately. This is a holy place. Women
should cover their heads. No one should wear shorts or T-shirts into
the church. If a ceremony is taking place, be even more cautious
about offending the devout.
