- Chili Fire Department.
"The Chili Fire Department extends coverage to over 10,000 homes
in our town. More than 175 men and women volunteer their time
provide our community with fire and ambulance service. We
respond to over 1700 ambulance calls and 650 fire/emergency
calls annually. We have 12 fire trucks and 2 ambulances housed
within 4 separate fire stations to ensure complete coverage of
our town. The fire department is comprised almost exclusively of
volunteers who take time from their busy lives to serve our
community. These volunteers devote many hours to specialized
in-house training as well as courses offered by various other
agencies. Our volunteers are active in a variety of community
events. To provide around-the-clock coverage and prompt service
to our community, we employ a few career dispatchers and EMS
personnel. Our career EMS staff provides ambulance coverage M-F
6AM to 6PM when it is difficult to provide adequate coverage
through the exclusive use of volunteers. The Chili Fire
Department is managed by two distinct groups; line officers and
the business officers (please see our Officers Page). The line
officers duties include scene assessment, strategic deployment
of personnel, coordination of efforts, and training. The
business officers are responsible for the financial operations,
correspondence, representation, legal issues, and
maintenance/enforcement of corporate policies."
